War and cruelty course through Vinancarin's bloodline. Happiness was an uncommon commodity, naught to be found in the embrace of lovers when Vinancarin was conceived, nor in the look both mother and father were expected to give their son. He was one of many a litter, born and bred in Firsthold to be first in line for the Altmer navy. Scuffles between both Maormeri invaders and infighting with their neighboring city, Skywatch, taught Vinancarin the meaning of a bloodied blade before his fifteenth year.Soldier, mariner, war criminal, exile; Vinancarin boasts a history of bloodied secrets and atrocities that not even the best of High Elves could've gotten away with. War and bloodshed under the Altmeri flags were suddenly no longer an option, and so he had to find respite and asylum somewhere else. The open seas proved fruitful.

Rogueish charm appears to be the Altmer's biggest selling point since the loss of his status and wealth in the Summerset Isles. He's an affable sort, easy to speak to and sharp-witted, if slightly condescending befitting the nature of most of the elven stock. Prolonged time spent around the mer will give way to a volatile temperament; he's quick to explode without any warning, then be just as docile as the moment prior.By appearance, Vinancarin was nearly the perfect Altmeri specimen in his prime. Golden skin dotted with light freckles, a soldier's build with a handsome face, wavy, ash-blonde hair and attentive green eyes grew quickly marred by scars during his time in the Aldmeri Navy. His face took the worst of them, with a diagonal cut straight across also taking out his left eye. Now donning an eyepatch, a scar, and a contoured beard... It does fit the 'pirate' occupation far better.

common

"He's a rather severe looking elf, don't you think? Usually them High Elves carry themselves with that haughty cunt attitude - and maybe this one does too - but he's certainly much rougher than the rest. Nicer about it, too."
Heard in Anvil, by a dockworker.
"I had his ship mistaken for one of those eagle-headed Altmer vessels but nah, the Osprey does prisoner transport. Takes bounties to everywhere but Dominion lands, seems like. Treasonous subjects back to their noble overlords, deserters from Pact and Covenant armies... I even heard he brought runaway slaves back to Morrowind."
Heard in Abah's Landing, by a merchant.
"Cast away by his own kind for heinous atrocities, I heard. Times of strife are hard for all of us, sure, but he took it a step too far, time after time. His father should've cut him loose before it got as bad as it did."
Heard in Alinor, by an Altmer kinlord.
"He wears the remnants of his status and wealth like broken pieces of jewelry. Talks about it when he's got a little too much drink in him, too. I think he's making it a point to visit every pleasure house and whore in the city, just because he can. Ha! So much for Altmer pride and refinement."
Heard in Abah's Landing, by a Breton whore.

rare

"That ship... Oh, it carries horrible sounds with it. Wails of despair and mindless babbles of madness. I don't know what cargo it carries, but whenever it is upon the waves, the winds weep."
Heard in Sentinel, by a Redguard sailor.
"Bring him back to his father, nice and whole, and he'll pay double what his ship is worth with everything inside. No, no-- It's not technically a Dominion bounty, just from his pa. Family reunion or something."
Heard in Firsthold, by a local.

father

"Oh, father. Heavy-handed and cold. I'm sure when they mulled over the list of my crimes, the question of 'why?' came up and they likely looked to you. I'll throw you under the ship, too, old man. Now you've a wish to see me again, and I'm entirely happy to never do that again."

Oranaya

mother

"What crime is worse, mother? To hold the blade in your hand yourself, or to stand by while another makes the cut? You tell me. I'm sure you know what the difference feels like."

◈ The Osprey - Vinancarin's vessel appears to be a bastardized version of the typical Altmeri galleon. 'The Osprey', similarly named after a bird of prey, can be found in a variety of ports chartering travelers and hauling captured prisoners to wherever their jail may be -- The Osprey tends to be the safest part of their journey.◈ Bounty Hunter - In the same vein as the chosen name for his ship, Vinancarin is a hunter of people. Bounties, more specifically. Bane of deserters, tyrants, criminals, thieves, and even his fellow privateers, he's no doubt gathered a reputation for being a "turncoat" given his chosen occupation. He asks a fair price, and is exceedingly good at finding his quarries.◈ The Worst of His Kind - Fellow Altmer may have heard of Vinancarin, though certainly nothing good. An exile of the Isles rumored to have a bounty on his name for 'crimes against his kin', he tends to keep a wide berth when it comes to other High Elves and Summerset as a whole.◈ Bane of Fishmen - Vinancarin's line was one of great sailors, many of which spent their lifetimes hunting down Sea Elves that strayed a little too close to Summerset's shores. The chosen name for his ship is something of a nod to this - the osprey feeds on fish, after all - but given his current position of exile by his brethren... His relation to the Sea Elves is a bit shameful.

DisclaimerVinancarin is a villainous character. He's horrible. He's an antagonist. The edge is intentional because I wanted to explore a combination of the worst effects of war on a character who's only known fighting and is suddenly left with absolutely nothing. Please keep that in mind when considering his character, thanks!
